Technology has gone beyond many of our wildest dreams, while philosophy has seemingly languished. But philosophy led to science, so it should be no surprise that logical, philosophical deductions can catch up in unexpected ways today.
The observation that nature is asymmetric allows us to introduce organized reasoning in a way similar to the logic of symmetries currently in use, by using symmetry as a foil in a proof by contradiction.
One result is the discovery that nature, the universe, does indeed have a non-random sense of direction with fortunate ethical consequences and implications for political science and other fields of inquiry.
NB: Asymmetry being ubiquitous, I have a ready excuse if this blog seems all over the place.
